I’m Jo and I've been running Live in Balance since 2014. I had previously worked in an office 9-5 and after the birth of my 1st son I knew that I wanted to share my new found love of Pilates with others. I also couldn’t find a pregnancy Pilates class first time when I was pregnant with my 1st son and I really missed Pilates! Once I had qualified to teach Pilates, I took further training to teach specialist ante and postnatal women.
I launched my own pregnancy and mum and baby classes in Brentwood, Essex which proved to be a success and continued to do so until the birth of my second son who is now nearly 2. In that time I taught over 100 pregnant ladies and new mums and many of these were returning with babies after having the pleasure of teaching them on their pregnancy journey.
Pilates to me at this moment means I can get on being a mum, wife and all the other hats I juggle without having to worry about physical issues. My body moves better than it did when I was in my 20’s. I’m aware of my body and its imbalances and I also have to be realistic with a 7 year old and toddler, hourly sessions 3 x per week are unrealistic but once you get the basics you can take these principles with you in daily life and that’s where Pilates makes the biggest difference! All of this I’m going to teach you in my sessions and workshops!
I’m really excited to be moving into online classes! I will still be using the same style of teaching I used in my studio classes but with the added bonus of participants being able to join live with me or watch a recording at a time convenient to them. It just made sense...How many times have you had to miss a baby class because one of you was poorly or you had a bad night?
Don’t worry if you are new to Pilates everything will be covered; whether it’s how to engage your core, pelvic floor or to align your posture. The sessions will be fun and relaxed and I look forward to teaching you soon!
