Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is a wonderful time where a tiny little bean is growing day by day to become very soon a baby in your arms! Your body is truly amazing as it grows to support, protect and nourish your baby. However, as your body changes it can bring with it aches and pains as well as common pregnancy niggles. Back and neck ache, leg cramps and swelling are to name just a few.
Pregnancy pilates can help to reduce these and help you to stay mobile and active throughout pregnancy.
It’s one of the types of exercise midwives recommend too as its low impact but effective at keeping the body, strong yet supple at the same time.
Classes will combine tailored exercises to strengthen the core, pelvic floor and whole body as well as stretch tired achey muscles. I'll also show you breathing techniques in the ever popular relaxation session that will leave you feeling de-stressed! Many mums started my classes at week 13 and continued with me right up until their due date!
Don't worry if you haven’t taken a Pilates class before. You can join from the start of the second trimester and we all start together at the beginning learning the basics. There are always levels as mums on this class are at different stages, just take it at your own pace and listen to your body.
Mum and baby (or just mum if baby is napping!) Classes are suitable from 6 weeks or 10-12 weeks following a c section. The bonus for my online classes is you can continue for as long as you like! No need to end once baby is crawling like my studio classes...
These are great classes for mums because its a gentle and safe way to start exercising after having a baby. I’ll teach you what exercises are safe and what’s not. No planks or ab curls in these! How to check your pelvic floor to see if things are functioning as they should and how to check for diastasis recti.
I’ll show you how to regain strength of your core and pelvic floor and how to strengthen the rest of your body to help you with the daily challenges of a newborn. We will also do some stretches to release off some of those tight spots as well as some tips on how to use Pilates principles in daily life when you are pushed for time.
These classes are suitable for mums with babies or without I’ll give you options to do either as we go through and remember these are fun and relaxed classes, feed, change baby along the way....
Maybe you had a baby many years ago, that’s ok too you can still feel the benefits of these classes, it doesn’t matter how long ago you had your baby!
